In my endless quest to organize my gig bag, I created a vinyl zipper pouch to put my odds and ends in. I always seem to lose my earplugs at the bottom of my bag!
Taking pictures of the whole process was difficult since I used clear vinyl in bad lighting, so I found this super awesome tutorial that shows you the same thing!

I recently had the pleasure of planning and executing a flute studio alumni recital. It was so much fun! There was definitely a lot of planning involved, and I’ve learned quite a bit for next time. I’ve listed the steps I took and the pitfalls I’ve experience below!

It’s really easy to get bored playing scales every day (or at least it’s that way for me), so another way to mix it up is to play them with different articulations.
You could double tongue, triple tongue, etc. on every note, or you could even apply those articulations on the way up and down the scale. I like to work on keeping my articulations even, so I will flip them and try the scale that way.
An example is to play the scale double tonguing the normal way up and down the scale (using the T and the K like normal). The next time you could flip the tonguing and use the K then the T. The K part of double tonguing is usually the weakest. By starting with the K you can work on keeping it even with the T.

Are your instruments insured? Not everyone likes to think about what could happen to their instrument, but accidents do happen. One time my friend’s mom ran over her violin! What would you do if something happened to your instrument at a gig?
