New scale this week! A Major! I really start liking the sharp key signatures when they start to get more complicated. I am also the weirdo that likes E Major and B Major!
Practice Logs
Practice logs! Some people love them, some people hate them! I like to use them with students that are trying to learn better practice habits. If needed, I’ll have a parent or guardian sign each log for extra accountability.
Practice logs are a great way to keep record of what you are working on and where you are in the process. I still have an excel spreadsheet of what I’m working on and what I did each time. It’s also nice to see how far you’ve come!

16 Ways to Stay Involved in Music and Performing
After graduating college, it can be difficult to find ways to stay involved in music, especially if you didn’t major in music. I’ve listed 16 ways to stay involved in music and performing. (In no particular order!)
DIY – Flute Cover
Flute covers are a great way to keep the dust off your flute while it’s still on the instrument stand. I like to cover mine when I’m taking a large break in practicing during the day. (It also keeps the cat from being curious about the shiny thing standing upright.) They are really easy to make and only take about 30 minutes to complete!

Is time running out before a big performance? Can you just not seem to find more practice time in your day?
